...HIGH WIND WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL NOON EDT TODAY...
...WIND ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM NOON UNTIL 8 PM EDT THIS
EVENING...

The National Weather Service in Peachtree City has issued a High
Wind Warning, which is in effect until noon EDT today. A Wind
Advisory remains in effect from noon until 8 PM EDT this evening.

* Locations...Portions of north Georgia, general along and north
  of a line from Cartersville to Jasper to Dahlonega to Young
  Harris.

* Winds...southeast 25 to 35 MPH with gusts of 40 to 50
  MPH...except 50 to 55 MPH in the higher elevations of the
  mountains. Winds will diminish to southeast 15 to 25 mph with
  gusts of 35 to 40 mph by early afternoon.

* Timing...rest of this morning and afternoon.

* Impacts...Strong winds will bring down trees and large tree
  limbs, especially with the saturated soils. Unsecured outdoor
  items may be blown around and driving may be difficult,
  especially for high-profile vehicles.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Wind Advisory means that sustained winds of 20 mph or higher
and wind gusts of 35 MPH or greater are expected. Winds this
strong can bring down large limbs and even whole weak or dead
trees as well as make driving difficult, especially for high-
profile vehicles. Use extra caution.

A High Wind Warning means a hazardous high wind event is expected
or occurring.  Sustained wind speeds of at least 35 MPH or gusts
of 45 MPH or more could topple trees and power lines as well as
cause property damage.

A Wind Advisory means that winds of 35 mph are expected. Winds
this strong can make driving difficult...especially for high
profile vehicles. Use extra caution.

  some weaker trees, especially with the saturated soils.
